The Internet

Map of the Internet - November 2003
The Opte Project/Barrett Lyon

The image above is a map of the Internet constructed by the Opte Project. By showing the relationships between routable networks over a 24 hour period, with colors indicating geographical origin, it provides a visualization of the Internet's reach and complexity. It also produces an image that's been deemed worthy of display in the Museum of Modern Art.

Much is written on the Internet about the Internet. When I post an article about the Internet, I try to provide information, insight, explanation or consolidation that, at the time of writing, I wasn't able to find elsewhere after doing some amount of searching. While my posts are mainly written for my own benefit, I hope they may be of some value to others as well.
